Bandung International School Outreach 2007
BIS,
It was so great to have you all at Telunas this past week. Please let us all know what you have to say about your experience at Telunas. Our goal is to give you "unforgettable experiences". Maybe you could share your personal highlight (I know mine was the river hike!). Or maybe you could tell us all what your "one liner" is to the question, 'How was your trip?'.
Hopefully we'll see some of you next year!
Brad

hey Brad and the crew (Sarah and Matt). This is Rebecca. Hey again. This is just a little something all the Grade 9's are doing for English (i'm doing a poem). And i am not going to be there next year. I will be Australia. Thanks for everything.
A poem in honor of Telunas Beach
The day we came to Telunas
It was so amazing
Because it was so beautiful
And the only word that came out of my mouth was “amazing”
And all it got was better
Every night, we would sit up playing UNO
And it was very loud all the time
But, that, you know
And when we went on the jungle trek
That was the most fun of all
The most fun was when we walked through the river
And the waterfall was beautiful
Having the skit night was useful
Only because it helped the teachers
And Brad to tell if we learnt anything at all
And it hilarious to be the teachers
Painting was tiring
And my stuff was messed
It was a let down too
Because as soon as we had finished the wall was messed
I loved helping with the artificial reefs
And then Amazing Race to end the trip
Our team lost by a long run
But the going home had to be the worst and best of the trip
Seeing all my friends for a whole week can be tiring
As well as teachers and all
But coming home to warm and loving family
That cares can be the best gift of all.
NEXT YEAR? OFCOURSE!!
We loved the place!!
WAIT before saying anything else
I want to say hi to Brad and the Crew!
I hope we do other activities!
That are better!
i dont know if you will remember me
but my name is
Gunhyun
P.S. - please convince our teachers to go there again next year! But they like it too!
This is what I remember…
Light spills over my hand,
Trickling down my arm and soaking my whole body,
The warm rays caressing my cheek
As I gaze out over the side of the boat
At the rippling waves
That leap and dance in sparkling shades
Of blue and green...
A light breeze tickles my ear.
Trees sway, their boughs creaking and waving in greeting.
A long, creamy stretch of sandy beach lounges in the sun,
Bathing in the soft light, and candy clouds lie,
Some like sculpted figures of ivory,
Others like delicate wisps of pearly mist,
Suspended in an azure sky…
The sky dons her glossy, obsidian gown, strewn with glittering diamonds.
In the soft glow of a torch, I watch
The inky water beneath me rise and fall with the coming tide,
Shimmering faintly with the light of the twinkling jewels above.
A hushed whisper of wind brushes my hair and I look up
To see a thread cut and a diamond dive,
Swiftly and silently, into the sea…
A curtain of rain drifts over the canopy of trees,
Leaves rustling restlessly in a sigh of wind.
The day darkens as clouds envelop the sun, heavy and swollen,
A reflection of the gloom descending on my heart.
The sky opens with a shower of tears,
A final farewell, taking from me the task of weeping,
But also stealing my smile…

Telunas was a memorable place, and memories of the things we did and saw will never leave me. I miss the trees, the clouds, the stars, the icy morning showers! I miss wading through the murky river, eating termites, bounding off rocks into the obscure, black depths of the waterfall! I miss hurtling off the end of the jetty and plummeting into the deep waters below, terrified but exhilarated beyond measure! There are some things people never forget, and, for me, the days we spent in Telunas certainly qualify. Thanks for everything!
Argh, missing telunas out here ><
Especially the star gazing, and the jetty =).. and the food.
looking forward to go back...
Telunas is simply the best!
